A photo of mine from a shoot with Thao Nguyen is in the December 2009 issue of SPIN Magazine, accompanying a full-page article. The article is also online. Thao was great to work with, and her music is fantastic.
Barclays Bank iShares Pitch

Ogilvy West had a large share of Barclay’s Bank iShares digital work when we pitched a full 360ยบ brand campaign. The idea was simple: in the current economic landscape, there are still things that are not impossible. In fact, when diversifying your investments using iShares exchange traded funds, there is a lot that is possible. And that’s how the ispossible campaign was born.
This demo reel highlights some of the digital work I art directed and concepted for the pitch. We had lots going on here… a veritable cornucopia of buzzword technology (most of which we were able to prototype in-house.) All supporting the idea of ispossible.

Integrated Campaign: San Francisco Environment

Recycling moments happen all the time, every day. Most of the time it’s as easy as a simple choice: where do I throw it away? It’s just a matter of changing a mindset. These moments are what we tapped into with the Recycling Moments campaign for San Francisco Environment, the San Francisco organization in charge of educating the public about recycling. This city is one of the most progressive cities in the country when it comes to recycling–and now, composting–but there is always room for improvement until we reach zero waste.

Art direction for integrated campaign to promote recycling in San Francisco. Ogilvy West, San Francisco. See my portfolio for more of the work.
We also created an 8 bit-style game, “Recycle Slam.” I composed the soundtrack using Reason.

Poster for the Great Lake Swimmers when they played at the Bottom of the Hill, in April, 2009. Bandleader Anthony Dekker is a class act, and even signed one of the copies for me. Same process as the White Denim poster; multiple pass inkjet on handmade paper in lieu of actual screenprinting.
Check out the Great Lake Swimmers. If you don’t like them, you are likely dead inside.

Did up a poster for a band from Austin who was coming through town for a show last week. Original plan was to screenprint, but time and resources were short. I ended experimenting with my Epson large format printer using thicker, non-photo art paper and sending the prints through multiple times to simulate the overlays of real screenprinting. It’s nice to get away from web delivered stuff once in a while.
The downside is you don’t get the feel of screenprints, and there is no such thing as white ink on a printer, which limits your paper colors somewhat. In fact, the printer is using what it is assuming is the white of the paper as a color to mix colors, so results vary with off-white papers. Both the Bottom of the Hill (SF club) and the band were into it, which was great. I’ll be selling some on Etsy sometime in the near future.
Check out White Denim.

Interactive Installation: Inside Light

The concept of Chris Hornbecker’s photo show “The Inside Light” (see my poster design for this in a previous entry) was portraits of people’s inspirational word reflected in either their eyes, or on sunglasses, etc. Great stuff.
To accompany the show, we created an interactive installation. We let users enter, and interact with projected type via their iphones, actually any phones with a web browser. All done with standard PHP and Flash, and Pixelrevision’s coding brilliance. Big possibilities with that setup for sure.

Website/Print: ZillionTV

At Ogilvy in San Francisco, we recently launched a website for ZillionTV, a new streaming TV service. ZillionTV has been getting tons of press since the announcement on March 4th. This is our version one site to support ZillionTV’s announcement to the public, and provide information for an important industry conference in Cannes this month. Our developer got some nice particle effects happening in Papervision for this launch, but we have some pretty neat interactivity in prototype for version two of the site, once we have access to all the content that will be available…
Anyway, the service itself is a promising bid for true streaming TV, read about it at Wired, in the New York Times, or on Gizmodo.
Check out the site here.
